Gas powered boats

5th and 6th class came up with a design and made a gas powered boat.  Check out how they documented the process and take a look at how the finished product turned out.

Making a Lava lamp

Mrs. Kelly’s class took some everyday objects and made a lava lamp.  All we needed was: a litre bottle, some water, vegetable oil, food colouring and some Alka Seltzer tablets.  We learned that oil and water don’t mix.  Oil is lighter so it sits on top of the water.  When we dropped the alka seltzer into the bottle it caused a chemical reaction with the water.  This produced carbon dioxide which makes bubbles in the lamp.  Take a look at our creations.
